Board Whisper

· About the project ·

Skating a bowl in the park
Paddling out through whitewater
Snowboarding down a foggy run

Some people pick one sport. I picked three.

Snowboarding came first. I was 20, and immediately addicted. Then life happened and I didn't ride for years. When I came back to it, I was hooked all over again - five years in now, and still my favourite of the bunch.

Longboarding came next, mostly because I needed something to do between winters. It didn't take long to fall for it on its own.

Then surfing, which I'd been chasing in my head for years before I actually tried it. Surfskating came along with it, because the wave feeling doesn't really leave you.

Why I built it

All three boards taught me the same lesson - it's hard to know what you're doing wrong when you're learning alone. YouTube tutorials assume you already know the basics and friends who shred can't always be there.

I filmed myself plenty of times. Turns out watching yourself fall in slow motion isn't the same as knowing why.

I built Board Whisper to be the quiet voice in your ear - the one that watches your clip, points to what would help next, and stays out of the way the rest of the time. Not a replacement for a real coach or a riding crew. Just something for the moments in between.

The vision

Every board, every level, one calm coach.

And eventually, a way to find the riding crew too - because the in-between moments matter, but the sessions with real people are where the magic actually happens.

See you out there.
